What Are All-on-X Implant-Supported Dentures?

All-on-X dentures attach to strategically placed dental implants in your jaw. Four to six titanium posts support an entire arch of replacement teeth, creating a stable foundation that functions like natural teeth. Unlike traditional dentures that rest on gums, these prosthetics anchor directly to bone, preventing slippage during meals or conversations.

All In The Family Dental combines precision planning with advanced imaging to ensure optimal implant placement for each patient’s unique anatomy.
The “X” represents the variable number of implants used, typically ranging from four to six per arch. Your jawbone density and oral health determine the exact number needed for maximum stability. Most individuals complete their entire restoration in just one appointment, leaving with functional teeth the same day. This immediate loading protocol eliminates months of waiting while maintaining facial structure and preventing bone loss that occurs with missing teeth.

Benefits of All-on-X Implant-Supported Dentures

The decision to pursue All-on-X implant-supported dentures starts with a question: how will this improve my everyday experience? Patients often tell us the most meaningful changes aren’t always the ones they expected when considering full arch replacement.
Eat Without Restrictions Again
Bite into corn on the cob, enjoy steaks, and crunch apples confidently. Your implant-supported dentures stay firmly anchored, providing the bite force you need for any food. No more soft food diets or avoiding social dining situations.
Communicate freely without worrying about dentures slipping or clicking during conversations. Your prosthetic teeth remain stable, allowing clear pronunciation and confident speech patterns. Professional presentations and phone calls become comfortable again.
Achieve full smile restoration with just 2-6 strategically placed implants instead of replacing every tooth individually. This approach reduces surgery time, healing periods, and overall treatment costs. You get comprehensive results with minimal intervention.
Maintain your natural face shape and prevent the sunken look associated with missing teeth. The implants stimulate your jawbone continuously, preserving bone density and facial support structure. You’ll look like yourself for years to come.
Keep your teeth in place 24/7 without removing them for cleaning or soaking. Your All-on-X dentures function as permanent teeth that stay secure day and night. Wake up with your smile already in place.
Halt jawbone deterioration that occurs with traditional dentures or missing teeth. Implants provide essential stimulation to maintain bone health and density. This preserves your oral health foundation for the future.

Treatment Journey

The All-on-X Full Arch Restoration Process

Full arch restoration might sound complex, but today’s streamlined approach makes it remarkably straightforward. You’ll find the transformation less overwhelming than traditional denture fittings. Each phase builds toward giving you back the complete, functional smile you deserve.
1

Planning Phase

Advanced 3D imaging maps your jaw structure to determine optimal implant positions for maximum stability. Your dentist identifies the strongest bone areas, typically placing four to six implants per arch. This strategic planning ensures even force distribution across your new teeth while preserving healthy bone tissue for years ahead.
2

Surgical Placement

Multiple implants go in during a single appointment, minimizing recovery time compared to individual tooth replacements. Strategic angling techniques often avoid bone grafting even in cases with some bone loss. You’ll receive temporary teeth the same day, so you never leave without a functional smile during the healing period.

3

Final Restoration

Your permanent All-on-X denture attaches after complete integration, usually within four to six months. These fixed teeth stay in place permanently, unlike traditional dentures that require removal. The result feels natural in your mouth, restores full chewing power, and maintains facial structure by stimulating jawbone preservation.

Freedom From Denture Hassles

Within months, you'll enjoy steak dinners and corn on the cob without worrying about slipping teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions

All-on-X Implant-Supported Dentures FAQs

We understand that choosing implant-supported dentures is a significant decision. These questions address the concerns we hear most often from patients considering All-on-X treatment. If you have additional questions beyond what’s covered here, call our office for a personalized consultation.

How many implants will I need for All-on-X treatment?

The “X” in All-on-X represents the number of implants needed to support your denture, typically ranging from two to six. Dr. Adam will determine the exact number during your evaluation using 3-D imaging to assess your jawbone density and structure. Most patients need four implants for a full arch, though some cases require more or fewer depending on bone quality and the size of the restoration. Your treatment plan will be completely customized to your specific needs.

Absolutely. We provide you with temporary prosthetic teeth on the same day as your implant placement, so you’ll never be without teeth. These temporary teeth are aesthetically pleasing and functional, allowing you to eat soft foods and smile confidently while your implants heal. The healing process, called osseointegration, typically takes a few months as your implants fuse with your jawbone. Once fully healed, we’ll attach your permanent, customized denture that matches your natural tooth shape and color.

With proper care, your dental implants can last a lifetime. The titanium posts that we place in your jawbone are incredibly durable and become a permanent part of your bone structure through osseointegration. Your denture restoration itself may need replacement after 10-15 years due to normal wear, but the implants remain stable. Regular dental visits, daily brushing and flossing, and avoiding extremely hard foods will help ensure the longevity of both your implants and denture.

Bone loss is common in patients who’ve been missing teeth for some time, but it doesn’t automatically disqualify you from treatment. During your evaluation, we use advanced 3-D imaging to assess your bone density. If necessary, Dr. Adam can perform bone grafting right here in our Evansville office to rebuild your bone structure before placing implants. This additional step may extend your treatment timeline by a few months, but it ensures your implants have a solid foundation for long-term success.

Once your implants have fully integrated and your permanent denture is in place, you’ll be able to enjoy virtually all your favorite foods again. Unlike traditional dentures that can slip or limit your diet, implant-supported dentures provide the stability and biting force similar to natural teeth. Initially, during healing, you’ll stick to softer foods like yogurt, mashed potatoes, and soup. After complete healing, you can return to eating steak, corn on the cob, and other foods that traditional denture wearers often avoid.

Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the procedure actually is. We use local anesthesia to ensure you feel no pain during implant placement, and many patients compare the discomfort to having a tooth extracted. Post-operative discomfort is typically mild and manageable with over-the-counter pain relievers and ice packs to reduce swelling. Our team provides detailed aftercare instructions, and most patients return to their normal activities within a few days. We also offer sedation options for patients who feel anxious about the procedure.

Caring for your implant-supported dentures is refreshingly simple. You’ll brush them twice daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush, just like natural teeth. Daily flossing around the implants helps prevent gum disease, and using an antibacterial mouthwash adds extra protection. Regular dental visits every six months allow us to monitor your implants’ health and professionally clean areas you can’t reach at home. Some patients with removable implant dentures also soak them overnight in a denture cleaning solution for added freshness.

Traditional dentures rest on your gums and rely on suction or adhesive to stay in place, often causing slipping, clicking, or discomfort when eating and speaking. All-on-X dentures snap securely onto dental implants anchored in your jawbone, eliminating movement completely. Additionally, while traditional dentures can accelerate bone loss in your jaw, dental implants actually stimulate bone growth and preserve your facial structure. You’ll experience better chewing power, clearer speech, and the confidence that comes from knowing your teeth won’t shift unexpectedly.

Age alone is rarely a barrier to successful implant treatment. We’ve helped patients well into their 80s restore their smiles with All-on-X dentures. What matters more than age is your overall health and healing capacity. During your evaluation, Dr. Adam will review your medical history and current medications to ensure you’re a good candidate. Conditions like uncontrolled diabetes or certain medications may require coordination with your physician, but most healthy adults of any age can successfully receive dental implants.

Recovery time varies by individual, but most patients return to work within 2-3 days after implant placement. If your job involves heavy physical labor, you might need a few extra days of rest. The first 48 hours involve managing mild swelling with ice packs and sticking to a soft food diet. By day three, most patients feel comfortable resuming normal activities while continuing to be mindful of their diet. We’ll provide specific guidance based on your procedure’s complexity and your body’s healing response.
